The landscapes of the Aiako Harria Natural Park are truly striking. Beyond their beauty, one of their most remarkable features is the inseparable relationship between natural and cultural heritage. In fact, the interaction between nature and human activity has shaped a series of cultural landscapes over time.

The Oieleku area, like many other parts of Oiartzun, is a clear example of a cultural landscape. First of all, there are mountain pastures, reflecting the importance that livestock farming has had, and continues to have, in the area. Several burial mounds and cromlechs can also be seen in the meadows. Above all, however, these landscapes have inspired numerous myths and legends: Moors, Intxisus, and many other mythological beings are closely linked to these lands.

To enjoy the surroundings of Oieleku and gain a better understanding of its rich heritage, Gipuzkoa Natura has organised a guided outing on Sunday, 25 October. The route is short and easy to walk. Nevertheless, comfortable footwear is recommended. The aim is not to cover a long distance, but rather to immerse oneself in a landscape full of legends, paying attention to its features with the help of the guide’s explanations. There will also be time for a traditional hamaiketako (mid-morning snack).

The activity will begin at 10:00 a.m. from the Kauso car park in Oiartzun and will finish at 12:30 p.m. at the same location.

Prices:

Over 12 years old: €6
Under 12 years old: €4

Advance booking is required.

Activity language: Basque.
